I Never Sang for My Father By (Video Publisher)
Hackman and Douglas deliver two of their finest
performances in this film, a compelling drama that garnered Academy Award
nominations for them both. This highly acclaimed film brings to life the
poignant story of a kindhearted son who devotes his life to winning the
affection and approval of his stubborn, opinionated father. Hackman
portrays the young, professional son who struggles to care for his
recently widowed and aging father. But his efforts to assist Douglas are
met with hostility and Hackman's affection is rebuffed. It's only when
Hackman is forced to make new living arrangements for him that Douglas
finally breaks down and shares his true feelings with his son.
Academy Awards
I Never Sang for My Father received Academy Awards
nominations for Actor (Melvyn Douglas), Supporting Actor (Gene Hackman)
and Writing (Best Screenplay based on material from another medium; Robert
Anderson). |
