Nicholas and Alexandra received Academy Awards for Art Direction/Set Decoration (John Box - Art Direction, Ernest Archer - Art Direction, Jack Maxsted - Art Direction, Gil Parrondo - Art Direction, Vernon Dixon - Set Decoration) and Costume Design (Yvonne Blake, Antonio Castillo) . Nicholas and Alexandra also received Academy Awards nominations for Best Picture (Sam Spiegel - Producer), Actress (Janet Suzman), Cinematography (Freddie Young), and for Music Scoring Awards (Best Original Dramatic Score; Richard Rodney Bennett).
