Ry Cooder - Paradise and Lunch .gif) By Steven Stolder
Think of Ry Cooder as a musicologist who makes learning fun. A
particularly nifty collection from 1974, Paradise & Lunch is
solo Cooder at his best. The song selection is inspired and unpredictable:
numbers by Burt Bacharach, Mississippi Fred McDowell, and Bobby Womack
commingle with ease. "Tattler" is a rare Ry original that
happens to be one of the collection's highlights. Jazz legend Earl Hines
guests on the dapper "Ditty Wa Ditty."

"I have owned & loved Ry Cooder music for many, many years. Paradise & Lunch was one of my absolute favorites. His music is timeless. . .wonderful funky, "get-down", R&B, gospel all rolled into one. I've recently introduced my grandson, who is into blues & has his own band, to Ry Cooder music. He too loves what he hears. I believe in passing "good stuff" on to the next generation. . . & the next. . . .and the next." --Texas Mama |
