Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run .gif) By Daniel Durchholz
Few albums are as fueled by hope, possibility, and the lure of the open
road as Born to Run, a virtual concept album about small-town
Jerseyites in search of a better life via hot-rodding out on the turnpike,
scoring some small-time hustle, or blowing out of town altogether, either
across the river to New York City or west for parts unknown. Songs like
"Jungleland," "Thunder Road," "Backstreets,"
and the title track are epic productions, both sonically and lyrically,
borrowing from Phil Spector, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, and West Side
Story. When Born to Run was released in 1975, it earned
then-unknown Springsteen the rare honor of simultaneous covers on both Time
and Newsweek. The attention was warranted then, and it still is
now.

"I am a 23 year old metal head who is branded with a tattoo of Ozzy Osbourne and the late great Randy Rhoads. I believe that Born to Run is the greatest album ever made. From Thunder Road to the never ver will be done again classic Jungleland, there is an essence between those vinyl grooves that is everything Rock and Roll should be. Struggle, work, fight, run, or whatever but get the girl. The title song has inspired me to get back up time and again after getting hit and never has so much intensity been crammed into 4 and a half minutes. I'm at that age now where the partying is losing it's purpose a little bit. It's a town full of losers and i'm outta here to find my Thunder Road" --Borntorun616 |
