"This album was a tad disappointing after the jazzy, innovative seventh album. Does anyone remember or care about "Hary Truman" or "Anyway You Want It"? There were, however, redeeming moments, in particular "Old Days" (which should be the theme song of the Class of '75) and "Never Been in Love Before". But the cut that really sends chills through me to hear it now is the last really good Terry Kath number "Til We Meet Again" which closes out the album. When I want to feel nostalgic for Chicago as they USED to sound I throw this platter on the old turntable." --CHBlackmon | "Chicago VIII is perhaps one of the least reknowned albums by the great Chicago. In this album, however, I personally believe is a great piece that didn't receive its due: "Oh Thank You Great Spirit." I have looked high and low for this song, even to the extent of calling the local Classic Rock radio stations... They either never heard of it, or thought I was nuts. The album included an iron on transfer of the cover art, and a poster of the band members in a Woody - the first of such pictures depicting the police chase [some of us remember that]." --LJTrottier@Netscape.net |
