Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti RIAA Certified Multi-Platinum! Click here to see this CD at Amazon.com!

By Lorry Fleming

This 1975 release came smack in the middle of a long and nearly mythic career. Physical Graffiti is the last great Led Zeppelin title, recorded before the influences of the day (synthesizers, disco) ended Zeppelin's reign as the kings of loud and sexy blues-metal. Playfully experimenting with new sounds, the band blended Middle Eastern rhythms, folk-stylings, heavy blues, and deeply impassioned rock riffs into a two-disc set that sounded as if they were still enjoying their place in the rock pantheon. As sprawling and adventurous as this collection is, there are some tracks so tightly focused--so ultra-Zeppelinesque--that it's tempting to name this as a number one or number two must-have. "Trampled Underfoot" and "Custard Pie" alone are almost worth the double-disc price tag.

"This album was released the day before my 18th birthday, and I was first in line to grab a copy at our local record store. Zeppelin were at their apex in 1975, and even though some of the songs on Graffiti were recorded back in 1972, it sounded solid. I saw them a month later in Vancouver, and they were incredible. Three hours of sonic nirvana, with the newer songs meshing well with older stuff like Dazed and Confused. Foolishly I parted with my original LP, and have searched for a clean copy of the opus ever since. Trampled Underfoot and The Rover sum up the album, while Ten Years Gone is one of the best songs Zeppelin's ever done. In my humble opinion."

"When I read reviews of this album, the song that is always overlooked is Ten Year's Gone. Obviously, Kashmir and In the Light are huge, but Ten Year's Gone is the ultimate guitar army masterpiece in the Zeppelin canon. The middle section after the beautiful slide solo is incredible, with seemingly dozens of guitars creating the most amazing guitar orchestration I have ever heard. Wanton Song is also overlooked for some reason. There are guitar sounds on that song I've never heard before."

"Graffiti is one of there best albums but #1 or two is hard to say my opinion is that on each one of there albums there's at least two great songs, 4 very good songs, and the rest you can listen to most groups or singers your lucky if you can get a song that you can listen to. Anyway my point was that how can you put one of there albums in front of the other each album was so written and played its to hard for me to pick a favorite."

"Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti without a doubt is their greatest work. With tracks that were recorded as early as 1970 it is amazing that these were left off previous albums.("The Rover" recorded in 1972 comes to mind). They manage to touch every base here, Heavy blues, beautiful acoustic, country twang, and of course the middle eastern influence heard in Kashmir.

Normally in a two record set there is a lot of filler....not here, On this one they rock, they roll, and even just jam a little (In my time of dying). I bought this on 8-track in 1975 and have had to buy several new copies thru the years (vinyl, tape,& CD). This recording belongs in everyones collection old or young...(my mother is 72 and loves Page's guitar work on "Down by the seaside"!
This was Zep at their best. If you own this one, Rock On.....If you don't Shame on you"
