Eagles - Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 .gif) By Steve Gdula
The pre-Hotel California
years were arguably the best for The Eagles (though there were, thanks to
Joe Walsh, some stellar future moments). Their mix of country, folk, and
rock had a harder, grittier edge, and helped define what would become
known as the Southern California sound. There was just enough of a country
feel in the beautiful harmonies of "Best of My Love," to blur
the edges between the genres. "Take It Easy" and "Lyin'
Eyes" could easily have come out of the new Nashville school, as
well. The twang that characterizes the guitar intro to "Already
Gone" and the leads in "Witchy Woman" and "One of
These Nights," also pays tribute to country's guitar greats. Greatest
Hits 1971-1975 houses a scant ten singles, but not only does it
illustrate the magic of the collaboration between Glen Frey and Don
Henley, it shows the breadth of The Eagles impact on the many who would

"I had 3 children born in the 1960's and their teenage years were spent listening to the Eagles, we all listened together while we grew up together, those were some great times for my family, especially with me being a single mother." --ketteringgirl | "When these hits were popular my son and I went to Charlotte to see "The Eagles". Back then the tickets were affordable and they were my favorite group so we went. Being a mom I didn't know what went on at concerts but I soon found out. As we parked this guy came up and tried to sell us pipes and stuff for smoking. Of course, I was petrified and told my son to get in the car. He caled me down so we went to the show. Once inside I had teenagers all around me and some even smoking, if you know what I mean. But I survived the show and as usual the "Eagles" were great. They will always be my favorite band even if they don't record much anymore. I did purchase the 2cd set of their hits and I love it.
I enjoy your web site very much so keep up the good work." --Dimples | "Joe Walsh is hands-down, one of the all time greats. Top five among those guitarists popular from 1970 to the present. One heavy dude. " --Joe V. |
