Campaign '72
President Nixon won an easy reelection in 1972. George McGovern's
campaign was in disarray, could not seem to find a vice-presidential
running mate, and, for good measure, Nixon's team used all the powers
available - without regard to the law - to make sure they won. It worked:
Nixon scored the second highest percent of the popular vote in history.
Over the coming months, we look back on the 1972 presidential election.
