PLO Granted Observer StatusBy Patrick Mondout
On November 22, 1974, the United Nations passed a pair of resolutions
declaring the Palestinian people have a right to independence and
sovereignty and thus granting the Palestine
Liberation Organization (PLO) "observer" status at the U.N.
This was a mere 9 days after a gun-toting Yasir Arafat, the head of the
PLO who had declared his goal as the destruction of Israel, addressed the
U.N. in New York. |
