Very important, folks! Please read!

SLA: Michael Bortin

By Patrick Mondout

Michael Bortin was a member of the 1970s terrorist group the Symbionese Liberation Army. He was first arrested - along with two other members of the 'Revolutionary Army' - on weapons charges stemming from the discovery of a large cache of weapons in Wendy Yoshimura's garage.

He received an 18 month sentence for the Revolutionary Army job and was later given another 18 months for violating his parole while with the SLA.

He worked as a painter along with Jim Kilgore and Steve Soliah (Kathleen Soliah's  brother). He later married Kathleen's sister Josephine and they raised four children in the Portland, Oregon area.

He was finally arrested on January 16, 2002 and later received 6 years for his role in the murder of Myrna Opsahl during the Carmichael Bank robbery.
