1972 O-Pee-Chee CFL Football Cards

By Patrick Mondout

For the second straight season, O-Pee-Chee produced a 132 card set of Canadian Football League (CFL) stars. The cards feature backs written in both French and English. While the '71 CFL set featured red borders, this set featured border colors that differed by team. As with most O-Pee-Chee cards of the era, the cards look as if they were cut with a steak knife and it is hard to find examples with nice sharp borders.

The set featured 14 "Pro Action" cards and a second-year card of Joe Theismann. Wax packs came with one of 24 black-bordered three-panel stickers. It would be the last CFL made by O-Pee-Chee. Jogo began printing CFL cards in 1981.
