Operation PetticoatBy Wikipedia
The 1959 movie Operation Petticoat was adapted as a TV series
which ran from 1977 to 1979. Initially starring John Astin in Cary Grant's
role of Lt Commander Sherman, the TV series was probably most notable for
the casting of Tony Curtis' daughter, Jamie Lee Curtis, in the role of Lt.
Duran, the female nurse Curtis character marries by the end of the
original movie. Most of the cast was replaced for the show's second
season, a decision that led to low ratings and cancellation. Only 24
episodes of the series was produced in total.

This show was fun. I liked the second season when there was a nearly compleat cast change. A new Captain and executive officer came on board. The sub was painted pink (like in the movie) and there were 3 nurses who were up to any challenge. Mr. Bender, had skipped submarine school (thinking he would fail the class by not attending) but another officer named Bender did attend and somehow Mike Bender got assigned to the Sea Tiger. He was always referred to as the dopey one, but he was forced to assume command when the Captain was injured and had to have his spleen removed by a nurse. Each week provided hilarious tales, a crew member marries a native girl, the sub got stuck on the bottom, a Japanese flyer is saved and put in an iron lung made from a torpedo tube. The show was often touching and funny, it ended too soon. --Anonymous | Note: This is just a random sample of the Operation Petticoat messages in our TV forums!
