Out of the Blue

Out of the Blue was about an angel named Random that visits a late Super70s family and is assigned their guardian angel. The show was a bit too sentimental, even by the standards of ABC & the Gary Marshall franchise and was not a hit.

Some incorrectly view Out of the Blue as a spin off of Happy Days. In an episode of that show, Chachi dreams he makes a deal with the nephew of the devil to be loved and admired by everyone. Later, Chachi can't take anymore because everyone loves him "too" much! He asks for Fonzie's help but The Fonz and Richie can do little against the super-natural. All looks lost until "Brandon The Angel" appears on top of the juke-box and saves them all. The lesson later learned is that only honest love from others can help conquer the bad things in life.

That Happy Days episode actually broadcast over a week after the pilot episode of Out of the Blue; it was a mere tie-in to entice the large Happy Days crowd to check out the new program, but few did.
