The episode called "The Soldier" was partially filmed in Wilmington at the Calvary Presbyterian Church before the series went on the air for the first time. I was the pastor of the church at the time and I became a good friend of the unit production manager, Phil Cook. I lost track of him after he went to work on Columbo. Michael Ontkean was "the soldier" in that Dan August episode and I had the privilege of talking with him and other members of the cast that day. The director, told me about his wife's death and how he was still in mourning. A very mixed day fun and being a part of Hollywood for a brief moment. I was paid $50.00 for "technical assistance." David Thorpe wore a button I pinned on his costume as he played the minister. --John | Note: This is just a random sample of the Dan August messages in our TV forums!
