Mulligan's Stew

By TVfreak

A high school football coach and his wife have three children of their own but must suddenly take in 4 more orphaned children (one of whom is an adopted Vietnamese girl) when their parents are killed in a plane crash. Not quite The Brady Bunch!

The children are quite different to each other. One a blonde bombshell, another a homely girl, another a tomboy interested in cars etc, one boy who looks like a wimp but knows karate and a cute Chinese-American girl who plays an adopted Vietnamese girl (quite a daring move by NBC in 1977, just after the US got its rear-end kicked in Vietnam).

Some good episodes about pulling together resources to fix up a race car involving hula dance lessons, cake recipes etc. Another about a man wanting to know the "real you" in the eldest girl.

I believe it lasted but 1 pilot and 6 episodes before being cancelled. Great theme song, "Stick Together" by Michael Price and David Walsh.

Your Memories Shared!

When I was in elementary school, we watched Mulligan Stew every week. One day in class, each student brought an ingredient and we made Mulligan Stew, which we had a recipe for that I think was published in a booklet that accompanied the show, but I'm not positive about that. Do you know where I can get that recipe? It was very good! [Sheila Macias responds: I believe we received a publication called Mulligan Stew that should have that recipe.
