Smith FamilyBy Patrick Mondout
This short-lived drama series starred Henry Fonda as veteran
plainclothes Los Angeles policeman Det Sgt. Chad Smith. Most of the
stories centered around the family problems faced by a member of the
police force, who deals with violent criminals on a daily basis, but it
also touched on the generation gap between Smith and his college-aged
daughter Cindy (played by Darlene Carr).
Janet Blair played his wife Betty while Ronny Howard and Michael-James
Wixted played his two sons, aged 15 and 7 respectively.
The show took the place of Room 222, which
moved to a to an earlier slot vacated by the cancelled Danny
Thomas' show.

My favorite episodes of the Smith Family were the ones in which I appeared as, "Sidney"... the best friend of Fonda's youngest boy on the show! --Ricky | Note: This is just a random sample of the Smith Family messages in our TV forums!
