"The New, Original Wonder Woman" was originally televised as a series of special movies on ABC in 1975. The year before, ABC had tested a pilot for a Wonder Woman series featuring Cathy Lee Crosby and was nothing like the eventual series or the comic character that fans had grown to love. A powerless Amazon?... please! The reviews on it were horrible and another pilot was ordered.

Eventually, the perfect image of the Amazing Amazon was discovered in former Miss USA contestant Lynda Carter who starred as Princess Diana A. K. A Wonder Woman and her alter ego, Diana Prince. The new series was set in 1940's Washington DC and also starred Lyle Waggoner as Maj. Steve Trevor, Beatrice Colon as Etta Candy and Carolyn Jones as her mother, the Queen of the Amazons. One notable guest star from the first season was a very young Debra Winger as Princess Diana's sister, Druscilla (a. k. a. Wonder Girl).

The next season, CBS picked up the series and brought it to the modern Washington DC of 1977. Lynda Carter and Lyle Waggoner (as Maj. Trevor's identical son, Steve, Jr. ) returned to the series with a recast Queen, Beatrice Straight, and a host of new characters to support her new life as an IADC agent. Eventually, Diana moved to Los Angeles and the series was cancelled. They should have stayed in Washington. :)

As a huge fan and collector of Lynda Carter memorabilia, Wonder Woman was definitely my favorite show. Although I like every episode, my favorites are "The Feminum Mystique", "The New Adventures Of Wonder Woman Pilot", "Mind Stealers From Outer Space", and "The Boy Who Knew Her Secret". --LyndaFan
