The 1974 Atlantic hurricane season was an ongoing event in the annual cycle of tropical cyclone formation. It officially started June 1, 1974, and lasted until November 30, 1974.

Notable storms of 1974 include Hurricane Carmen and Hurricane Fifi.

Hurricane Carmen was the strongest storm of the season, reaching Category 4 strength. It made landfall on the Yucatan Peninsula and later in central Louisiana. Damages to the United States are estimated at $150 million (1974 dollars), and there was one fatality. Estimates of the damage in Mexico are not available.

Hurricane Fifi caused enormous amounts of rain-related damage when it made landfall in Honduras. Although estimates of the number killed range from 3000 to 10,000, a figure of 8,000 dead is generally accepted. This makes Hurricane Fifi the fourth deadliest Atlantic hurricane on record.

Subtropical Storm One caused three drowning deaths and $10 million in damage (1974 dollars) when it passed over Florida.
