Elton John - Blue Moves RIAA Certified Platinum! Click here to see this CD at Amazon.com!

By phillipssp

A relatively radical shift in tone from the previous Rock of the Westies. This double set features a new lineup of musicians assembled after the unprecedented run he made with the trio that produced the Elton classics of the Super70s. Bernie Taupin's lyrics are more personal than ever and often dark. The production value of this album is off the charts. While containing only one legitimate hit song, "Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word", it is sure to impress all die hard Elton fans and anyone who appreciates the brilliance of Elton john as a composer. It also marks the temporary end of the extremely prolific songwriting partnership of John/Taupin that would not resume full-time for several years. Put on the headphones, turn it up, and enjoy!

"It took me several years to forgive Stevie Wonder's Songs In The Key of Life for keeping Blue Moves from number 1. This broke Elton's string of #1 Albums. And while many people have overlooked Blue Moves, the range of wonderful songs make this one of his stronger albums. But like a lot of double albums, it would have made a fantastic single album."

"Double album which would have been best as a single with a little too much filler in between the great tracks. The band Elton had at this time, was superb and the all round production was flawless. Great to see Paul Buckmaster arranging again on three tracks. Listen to the guitar playing of Caleb Quaye and the drumming of Roger Pope, simply amazing."

"I'm a teenager, and, for this reason and this reason alone, I'm frowned upon by my peers, because I am a huge Elton John fan. I purchased blue moves probably a half year ago. My main motivation for doing so was that it was the last album I'd need to complete my collection up to that point of all of his cds through 1976. I wasn't expecting much out of it, considering it was the record that broke his string of number one albums as it only reached number three. So, I put off listening to it for the longest time. I finally gave myself a chance and decided to listen to it through its entirety. I was simply blown away! The first disc was what got me. I absolutely love all eight songs on it. I find myself going through phases of liking this one song in particular. Right now it's Cage the Songbird. I think my favorite is either a toss up between tonight and one horse town. Both are amazing songs, and I'd love to hear him redo versions of this old classics. Keep up the outstanding work Elton - your new album is wonderful"

"I wore this album out. Literally. I bought the album first. Then I purchased the piano book. I'd put the record on, then sit down at the piano and play "tonight" over and over and over. I can remember just melting into the music and feeling like I was really part of the band, playing with Elton.
Great Memories!"

"I used to listen to this album when I was still single. And now I'm looking forward to hearing this music on cd. This album is so wonderful and I know all the songs by heart. These songs are always on my mind."

"A beautiful woman used to listen to this album with me. I wonder if she is still out there, listening to it alone. This album summed up a realationship with a very special person, although "Tonight" was my favorite track, it had less than little to do with our realtionship, which was wonderful. Tina, if you're out there, play it for me, just once more. And Elton, if you're out there, thanks for one of your best efforts. A truly amazing and touching work."
