Your Memories Shared!

I loved watching In Search Of as a kid. I think it was in syndication by that point but every show was new to me. Now I'd love to be able to buy the old episodes on DVD so I could watch them again and let my children watch them someday. I think that show more than anything else at that time in my life, influenced my interest in science. I have had a burning desire ever since to read all I can on subjects as diverse as ancient history, other cultures, natural mysteries or unexplained phenomena such as UFOs, ghosts, weird creatures, ESP, Telekinesis etc. Name it, I've read about it. It was the perfect show for me as a kid because it peaked my interests in many areas and left me wanting more. It didn't have all the gimicky flashy extras so often found in the goofy copy cat shows produced through the '80s and 90's Nemoy's voice was also the perfect voice for the genre, creepy all on its own. If anyone knows about the possibility of purchasing these old episodes on DVD I'd love to know about it. I think some of the shows were in black and white but I can't remember for sure. If they weren't, they probably should have been. Because of my exposure to In Search Of as a child I pursued a science degree in college and graduate school. I also credit In Search Of with my love of travel. I have been to many of the ancient places mentioned on the show including Crete and the Greek Islands, most of Italy including Pompeii and Chitzan Itza in Mexico. My biggest adventure will be in May when I fly to Easter Island via Santiago, Chile. All this because of a television show that was in reruns by the time I was watching it. Of course I enjoyed X-Files for the first few years for the same reason but nothing has ever come close to the intrigue of In Search Of. The original fictitious Twilight Zone came close but then In Search Of I considered non-fiction. . .
