SearchBy AMStar
"Search" was a series that lasted a short season, from 1972-
1973. It was broadcast on NBC at 10:00 (9:00 CST) on Wednesdays. The
premise of the show was that World Securities Corporation insured various
items, business, and people. When a claim might have to be paid, Probe
Division (the pilot was simply called "Probe") would send out an
investigator to track down and solve the problem. Each investigator was
monitored and assisted by technicians at Probe Control. These technicians
received visual, audio and other information instantaneously from sensors
worn by the Probe investigators. These sensors were tiny enough to be worn
as jewelry. The Probe agents received audio communication from Probe
Control through an implant behind the ear.
Each week one of the Probe agents would investigate a disappearance or
other mystery. The show had three main stars that rotated weekly. Hugh
O'Brian stars as Lead Operative Hugh Lockwood, Doug McClure stars as
Standby Probe C.R. Grover, and Tony Franciosa stars as Head of Omega
Division Nick Bianco. Burgess Meredith stars as V.C.R. Cameron, the leader
of Probe Control who appeared in every episode.
This show was inventive, imaginative, and daring in some instances. I
liked it when it was on, and I would love to see it again.

This was one of my favorite shows of the Super70s that nobody I now know can remember. It was so cool with the gadgets and secret agent stuff that only nowdays can be believable. I was enthralled watching it and always imagined being one of the agents with Burgess Meredith watching my every move.
