Joe's World

By Happi-Puppi

Joe's World: A seven-month-wonder (December 1979 to July 1980) about an old fashioned, blue collar family man named Joe Wabash (Ramon Bieri) trying desperately to cope with the changing times within his own family, as well as the outside world.

Joe worked as a professional home painter. His wife was Katie (K. Callan) and his kids were (youngest) Rick, Linda, 16 year old Maggie and Steve (The Brady Bunch's Christopher Knight, playing a "real" teen) who's also Joe's apprentice painter.

Other characters were Brad Hopkins who felt he was God's gift to women, Joe's best friend Andy and Judy Wilson played by Misty Rowe.

Plots revolved around the type of boys Maggie was seeing now that she was dating, Steve's influence on his younger brother (Steve had *gasp!* Playboy Magazines under his bed!) Katie protecting her family by shooting a burglar who has broken into their home but mostly, just the normal true life tribulations of a modern Super70s family. It was as touching as it was funny and it didn't sugar-coat the real world. It deserved better.

I had hoped this show would last longer but since it aired on Friday nights, the worst night for sit-coms unless geared towards pre-teens. The show ended in not so super 1980.
