Struck by Lightning

By Happi-Puppi

In 1979 this sitcom debuted on CBS's fall schedule. It was an updated take on the Frankenstein's Monster legend. Western movies actor Jack Elam played the monster who was originally "Struck By Lightning". What I recall is a descendant of the original Dr. Frankenstein takes up residence in the old castle. There he meets Elam's character.

The plots are sort of reminiscent of Addams Family type plots where people are creeped out when they visit. The show lasted barely a season and was struck by the lightning of cancellation. Mr. Jack Elam passed away at age 84 just last night (10/21/03). He also was featured on TV westerns as the bad guy in Gunsmoke, The Rifleman and High Chaparral. He thankfully had a great career before and after signing up to do this show. If you wish to see him in action rent, "Support Your Local Gunfighter"!
